Culture and history info

The quintessence of so called Italian Renaissance is all within this city. Many centuries ago, during the Middle Ages, Florence flourished as one of the most important cities of central Italy, thanks to the politics of the Medici, the local ruling family. The climate was perfect for  individuals of artistic abilites to develop their skills and many endowments were bestowed  to artists from all over Italy. A genius like Leonardo Da Vinci spent part of his life in this city, Michelangelo went to school here, and many more "famous" artists like Botticelli, Brunelleschi and Raffaello spent part of their lives in this amazingly "open" city. The Walkabout of Florence is a must-to-do thing for everyone crossing this part of the country.
